Rising Leeds band I Concur, a band who pleasingly make many an excursion to this side of the Pennines, keep the flag flying for new, leftfield music. If anything “Lucky Jack” is understated, with crumbling, delayed guitars taking centre stage as the drums bounce between snare and tom and the bass lies content within its fluid rumblings. Tim Hann’s vocals are almost muted, but somehow he ensures there’s a reasonable injection of melody into proceedings before the song completes its eruptive conclusion. “Build Around Me” celebrates the bands more progressive tendencies, as the whole plot explores an ethereal indie idealism. Obvious comparisons will be made with iLT, but that’s probably more of a case that I Concur are equally searching and well read when it come stop song writing. I Concur create a mellow, menacing sense of excitement with their sweeping floods of enigmatic guitar work – highbrow lo-fi anyone ?
